Surgical Services Manager in NY state

 Hospital located in NY state on the St. Lawrence River is seeking a Surgical Services Manager. Small rural, CAH in an under served area wants a permanent candidate but will do temp to perm. Competitive salary and benefit program. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE: licensed and currently registered in New York State as one of the following: Registered Nurse in good standing, Certified Registered Nurse First Assist, Physician Assistant in good standing, or Nurse Practitioner in good standing - A minimum of 5 years experience in the peri-operative field – “hands-on” - BLS, ACLS and PALS - Previous management experience in the medical field preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning, implementation, and coordination of all daily operations within the Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Unit, Pre-ASU, Endoscopy and Central Sterile Processing. This includes, but is not exclusive to: 1. Directing and supervising the personnel and delivery of care within these departments 2. Managing and coordinating administrative issues within the respective departments 3.Acting as liaison between the department’s staff, the Medical Providers and Administration 4.Providing the safest, most effective nursing care to all surgical patients 5. Care of equipment and supplies 6.Customer satisfaction, including patients, staff, physicians, peers, families and administration 7.Staff and unit productivity 8. Fiscal responsibility for the unit, including the budget 9.Compliance with state, federal and other regulatory requirements 10 Development of policies and procedures, in conjunction with Administration which support the organization’s goals and business objectives and ensures that these are met 11.oversees quality improvement plan 12.Department performance evaluations and progressive discipline if necessary 13.Determines the appropriate staff mix for the department and follows/assists in developing processes to screen, hire, train and maintain the competency of staff 14. Accepts other duties as requested by the Chief Nursing Officer. 15 Assist the Chief Nursing Officer with initiation of new service lines, acquires equipment as needed for new service lines. Position is 8 hour day shift M to F, NO Call or Weekends, and Client is willing to offer a 13 week temp to perm contract only to candidates interested in a PERM position at hospital.
